Dealing with Money

A British Pound is now worth about $1.50, which is as good as its been in a long, long time! Thanks recession for that.

How do I get foreign currency?
See if your bank has foreign currency on hand.  Most don't, but some banks will order the money for you, just give it a few weeks.  You can also change your money at the airport.  You'll have to pay a hefty fee, though, so this isn't the best option.  ATMS are usually a good option, just ask your bank what kind of fees they're going to impose.  Sometimes they're very small.

What if I run out of cash while I'm still in the British Isles?
If you run out of cash, Britain is brim-full of ATMs ("cash points").  If you have a debit card, this is a great way to get extra cash.  Check with your bank before you come to make sure there are no security blocks on the card (and to see what kind of fee they'll charge you) then travel with ease!  ATMs in the UK are wonderful - almost all the banks made an agreement with each other not to charge the cardholder a fee.  So the only thing you'll likely have to pay is what your home bank charges.
